Let’s get one thing out of the way: I don’t claim to be an expert foodie, or a chef, or a culinary pro of any sort.
My name is Aimee Vitek, and since I was a young girl – born in a small southern Louisiana town and raised in the beautiful Florida Keys – I’ve garnered a love for food. Whether it was going on fancy dinner dates with my dad as a child, watching my mother and grandmothers serve delicious feasts for our family, cooking up game day grub for football tailgates in college at Florida State University, or now trying new recipes at home with my husband … I live to eat.
I’m a writer by trade, having dabbled in food writing as a section editor and nightlife columnist for Orlando Weekly magazine. And anyone who follows me on Facebook or Instagram would say I’ve been known to enthusiastically post snapshots of my meals – both out at restaurants and homemade dishes created in my own kitchen.
Being as I recently moved to Miami with my husband, Kenny, it only made sense to start sharing the incredible meals I’ll savor as we explore this multi-cultural city and its renowned restaurant scene. Not only will I capture photos of and share about our edible adventures in Miami, but often times I’ll throw on an apron and cook up tasty creations in our apartment kitchen, sharing recipes and photos aplenty.
I hope you’re hungry. Let’s dig in!
